College Go! Week - September 20-24

College Go! Week is September 20-24, 2010 held in conjunction with our Homecoming week.
On Tuesday, September 21st, Career and college was at Knox High School between 11:00 and 1:15 in the cafeteria. Our students were able to enjoy a visit with many of the post-secondary providers in our area. Some middle school students came over to visit with our visitors.

Seniors will be asked to complete college applications on line. Many Indiana colleges are having free applications during this week. Juniors will be asked to set up a college visit for sometime later in the year, and complete a college and career information form with Learn More Indiana. Sophomores will get information on the PSAT that they will be taking October 13th, 2010. The state of Indiana pays for all sophomores to take this test, so all sophomores and their parents can start making plans on future high school classes and career and college plans. Freshmen will complete a college and career information form for Learn More Indiana.

We want to thank the KHS Guidance department for the classroom instruction and setting up these positive activities for our students.

Marching Band at Goshen.

The Marching band season started on a “wet” note on Saturday at the Goshen Marching Competition. The rain and mist came down as the band took the field and thrilled the community members that were present.  The Band placed 5th in this first competition.

We look forward to seeing great things from our band this year and will be excited to see their marching show growth.

Biology II enjoying a day at the Tippecanoe river

KHS Biology II students were able to enjoy a day of sun and science with the Arrow Head Country River Expedition on the Tippecanoe River on September 9th. Students were equipped with life jackets and note pads for a trip into science. The rafts were in competition throughout the day. After listening to presenters at each session, along with information presented by their raft instructors, teams were given tests to complete and turn in. The rafts were co-mingled with around 80 Knox and Maconaquah High School students. The students completed activities related to watersheds, forestry, water testing, benthic macros and wildlife.
